Is CCTV legal to install on my home in the UK?
Yes. You are allowed to install CCTV at your home. If your cameras only record your own property, you have no additional obligations. If your cameras also capture public areas or a neighbour’s property, UK GDPR rules apply. This usually means adding signs and handling footage responsibly. During your survey we will show you exactly what is and is not allowed and we will make sure everything is compliant.
Are your CCTV systems hardwired or wireless?
We install hardwired CCTV systems because they are more reliable and secure. This avoids Wi Fi dropouts and prevents people from trying to hack a wireless feed. We use commercial-grade Hikvision ColorVu equipment that keeps recording even in a power cut when a backup battery is installed.
Do your cameras record sound?
Yes. Hikvision ColorVu cameras include built-in microphones. Audio recording comes with stricter privacy responsibilities and it is not necessary for every home. We will explain when audio is appropriate, when it is not, and set everything up correctly for you.
What happens if my WiFi goes down?
Your CCTV system continues recording normally. All footage is stored to your recorder inside the property. The only thing you temporarily lose is remote viewing through the app. Once your internet is restored your access returns and nothing is lost.

How long is CCTV footage stored for?
Most homeowners choose between fourteen and thirty days of storage. The exact amount depends on how many cameras you have and the size of the hard drive. During your survey, we will recommend the right setup based on your property and budget.
Are your cameras weatherproof and tamper-resistant?
Yes. Our cameras are IP67 rated and operate in extreme cold and heat. They are designed to resist vandalism and we mount them securely so they cannot be interfered with or unplugged.
Can I view my cameras while I am away from home?
Yes. You can check your cameras from anywhere using the free mobile app for iOS or Android. You can view live footage, watch recordings, allow family access, receive motion alerts, and control audio settings if enabled.
How much does CCTV installation cost?
Your total price depends on the number of cameras, cable routes, storage size, and any optional audio features. After your free survey you receive a fixed price with no hidden charges. Finance options through Kanda are available including zero percent APR for eligible customers.
